About The High-End Builder

Steven Christopher Bireley

or Chris Bireley

Welcome to my blog all about residential construction. My goal is to give my readers informative and up-to-date information on home building and help my fellow contractors with growing their business.

At a young age I started working with my father, grandfather and uncle at Bireley Construction in Angola, Indiana. I learned how to build a house from the ground-up. I was involved in everything from framing, roofing, siding, concrete, electrical, HVAC and plumbing. Plus I was able to see the workings of a home building business in action.

I spent some time in landscaping and production housing, before I finally opened SC Bireley Builders LLC in 2020 in Irmo, SC. The SC stands for Steven Christopher however many fall into the trap of believing it represents South Carolina.

Through the last 32 years of being involved in Residential Home Building, I have learned a thing or two relating to building a house and contracting business; even though, I still have much to learn, I want to share some of my experiences (good and bad), give you some advice on tips and tricks of the trade and offer up some of my wisdom on the do’s and don’ts of building a house.

Helping me with this blog is my wife of 26 years, Tibet Bireley. Though she is not the expert, she has been with me through each step of my career. Together we have built and designed two personal houses and soon a third. She has given me her opinion when I needed a different perspective or some “non-builder” advice.

In my spare time I like to try new bourbons or sip on some of the tried and true classics. Old Fashions are my favorite drink! I also enjoy having a cigar every once in a while on the back deck. Tibet and I love going to small venue concerts such as Grant’s Lounge in Macon to see Andrew Duhon or Amos Lee in Atlanta, GA.

Traveling, hanging with buddies and spending time with family are what I enjoy doing on the weekends.
